Room rates will be $84.99 plus state sales tax and lodging local taxes Recommended overflow motels are: Courtyard by Marriott Wichita East, (316)-636-4600 and Holiday Inn Wichita East (316)-686-7131.

The convention airport is Colonel James Jabara Airport (AAO), located on the northeast corner of Wichita just outside the Dwight D. Eisenhower control zone. CTAF/UNICOM 122.7. WX ASOS 134.025 (316-636-2541). The airport is uncontrolled. Please bring tie downs and ropes. In-the-grass camping close to the clubhouse will be allowed

Please monitor the SWPC web site www.shortwingpiperclub.org as details are finalized and posted.

There are many things to see and do in Wichita and vicinity by attendees on your own schedules and times. These include but are not limited to: Kansas Aviation Museum, www.kansasaviationmuseum.org, displaying 40 historical airplanes and boasting a haunted terminal; Great Plains Transportation Museum, www.gptm,us; Sedgewick County Zoo, www.scz.org; “Field Station: Dinosaurs” theme park in Derby, KS, www.fieldstationdinosaurs.com; Museum of World Treasures featuring Ivan the T- Rex skeleton plus artifacts from around the world, www.worldtreasures.org; Wichita Art Museum, www.wichitaartmusem.org; Museums on the River comprised of Botanica Wichita, Exploration Place, Mid-America All-Indian Center, Old Cowtown Museum, Wichita Art Museum and the Mid-America Indian heritage site with the 44-foot tall “Keeper of the Plains” statue standing watch; “The Yard”, Wichita’s famed hardware store established in the late 1940 with over 4-acres of new and used tool and materials bargains; several antique stores, and last but not least, Dairy Queen.

The historic fly-in Beaumont Hotel and Café in Beaumont, KS is not open on weekdays during the summer so we are deprived of this attraction.
